Unity
FPS Sample
FPS Sample is Unity’s large first-person multiplayer example. It is not a beginner scene. Clone it when you need to see how an official Unity shooter splits netcode, weapons, and a 3D level — especially if you are weighing Unity against Godot or Unreal for a shooter.

Who it is for
- Developers with shipped Unity or strong C#
- Teams comparing Unity netcode to Godot multiplayer
- Not a first Unity project
What you can learn
- How an official FPS splits client and server concerns
- Weapon and player prefab layout at sample scale
- What “Unity for a networked shooter” looks like in source
Clone and run
- Read the repo README first — it pins a Unity version and may note that the sample is frozen.
- Clone Unity-Technologies/FPSSample, add it in Hub with that editor version.
- Open the documented scene. Multiplayer may need extra layers; a local Play still shows the FPS loop.
Unity has newer multiplayer stacks than this sample. Use it as history and architecture, then check current Netcode packages for a new game. The Companion License still applies.
